Mouqawamet (Les Résistantes)

Mouqawamet, qui signifie les résistantes en arabe, est une installation qui prend source suite à l’invitation en résidence dans le Haut-Atlas au Maroc et qui a été développé avec les femmes tisserandes du village d’Aguerd. Cette pièce a été financée par la région des hauts-de-France (PRAC 2.0).

Originaire des Hauts de France et née d’une mère française et d’un père marocain, je me suis intéressée à un évènement historique des années 60-70 alors que les houillères du Nord ont eu recours à la main d’oeuvre marocaine.

J’ai ainsi pris le parti de questionner à travers cet événement de l’histoire de l’immigration, le sort de ces femmes berbères dans l’attente, ces résistantes à la solitude, restées dans les montagnes du Haut-Atlas en confrontant l’art et l’artisanat dans un même projet.

Mouqawamet, which means resistance fighters in Arabic, is an installation that originated following an invitation to residency in the High Atlas in Morocco and which was developed with the women weavers of the village called Aguerd. This piece was financed by the Hauts-de-France region (PRAC 2.0).

Originally from the Hauts-de- France and born to a French mother and a Moroccan father, I became interested in a historical event of the 60s and 70s when the coal mines of the North used Moroccan labor.

I thus decided to question through this event in the history of immigration, the fate of these Berber women waiting, these resistant to loneliness, who remained in the mountains of the High Atlas by confronting art and craftsmanship in one project.
